Mayoral Visit for Lalys Pharmacy

Staff at Gosport’s newest pharmacy were delighted to receive both a personal visit and words of support from the town’s Mayor and ward councillors.

Having served the people of Portsmouth from branches across Portsea Island for over 40 years, Lalys Pharmacy expanded across Portsmouth Harbour to Gosport at the end of last year to take residence at the pharmacy located on Privett Road.

‘We had a relationship with the people of Gosport as our branch in Guildhall Walk has been their designated ‘late night pharmacy’ for a number of years,’ explains Baldev Laly, founder of Lalys Pharmacy.  ‘However, when we were made aware of the opportunity to take a physical presence in the area, we felt confident we could bring the services and support we offer over the water.’

After establishing its logistics, appearance and team, Lalys Pharmacy invited the Mayor of Gosport, Councillor Jamie Hutchinson, along with its Ward Councillors Kevin Casey and Zoe Huggins, to visit the store, meet staff and hear about the services available as part of the UK’s national ‘Pharmacy First’ campaign.

‘With the demands on all areas of the healthcare service at the moment, it is important that people know where they can get support for their health,’ said Councillor Casey. ‘If a pharmacist can help with minor ailments, give advice to people feeling unwell and provide vaccinations for flu and international travel, it helps take the pressure of GP surgeries.’

And Councillor Huggins agreed, ‘Lalys Pharmacy comes to Gosport with an existing affection and great reputation. I was particularly impressed by the acknowledgement of the service families that live in our community through the MoD and Blue Light discount on their retail products.’

‘It meant a great deal to us for representatives of Gosport Council to take the time and interest to hear about our work,’ said Pharmacist, Kom Hlapatsos, who leads the team at Lalys Pharmacy in Gosport. ‘With their help in raising awareness, we know that more people will recognise the help we can give and we look forward to welcoming them.
