The staff at Lalys Pharmacy were proud to administer a vaccination for COVID-19 to the Chief Pharmaceutical Officer for NHS England, Dr Keith Ridge.
Last weekend, Dr Ridge, who leads the pharmacy profession and supports NHS England and NHS Improvement, the Department of Health, broader Government and Health Education England, received his jab at the first pharmacy in Portsmouth, and one of the first in the UK, to be asked to join the national rollout of COVID-19 vaccinations.
‘I first visited Lalys Pharmacy when it took part in the pilot for the ‘Healthy Living Pharmacy’ scheme over ten years ago and subsequently became one of the first to be accredited,’ explains Dr Ridge. ‘It was great to catch up with such a dynamic independent pharmacy and thank them for all they are doing to protect the public as part of the NHS Vaccination Programme.’
Lalys Pharmacy is continuing to administer hundreds of COVID-19 vaccinations a day from its Guildhall Walk branch to those who have been invited by the NHS to make an appointment via the government’s national booking system.
‘It was wonderful to see Dr Ridge again,’ said Founder and Director, Mrs Pushpinder Laly. ‘It felt quite an honour to have such an important and highly-respected figure choose to have his vaccination with us.’
